All classes are taught at our studio in downtown Carrboro, North Carolina, in historic Carr Mill Mall. Carrboro is located next to Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina in the Piedmont Region of North Carolina. Besides all there is to do and see in the Triangle (which includes Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Durham), we are located about 2 ½ hours from the beach, 4 ½ hours from the mountains and 5 ½ hours from Washington, D.C. for those who need added adventure.
Enrollment in our hands-on classes is limited to six students. Each student’s workstation includes a well-lit jeweler’s bench complete with a Smith Little torch for soldering and a foot-controlled flex shaft for precision polishing and grinding. Each bench is also complete with all necessary hand tools, such as a jeweler’s saw, assorted files and pliers. A materials fee is charged for each class for group use of supplies and materials. Additional materials (including metals and gemstones) can be provided by students or purchased at the studio.
Tuition:
Fab I,II, III, IV, V (14 hr. each) - $240.00 per class
and a $35 materials fee
Cloisonné Enameling (30 hr.) - $500.00 per class
with a $50 materials fee
Esssentials of Granulation (14hr. ) $240 and a $40 materials
fee
3 hour Intensive-$65 and $10 materials fee
6 hour Intensive- $125 and $25 materials fee
Silversmithing (20 hr. ) - $350.00 per class and a $50
materials fee
Most classes are offered on weekends and week nights. Class times are
indicated on the class schedule. A one-hour lunch break is taken on full
class days.

Policies:
Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment in full
is required for registration.
If the payment is mailed, a place is not held for you until we receive
your payment.
If you cancel 30 days or more before the beginning of a class, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel less than 30 days before the beginning of the class, there is no refund. However, we will give you a credit towards a future class. If it is necessary for James Carter Studio to cancel a class, students will be notified and offered another class or a full refund. We cannot be responsible for non-refundable airline tickets.
