Since 1983, I have used most of the kilns available on the market. My personal favorite is Paragon, for several reasons. 1. Simple design.
A kiln has one purpose - to fire glass, PMC or any other materials requiring heat. This means getting the work in and out in one move. The controls are in front of you, easy to read. And the latch is strong yet easy to open. 2. Fire brick construction & recessed coils.
I can read the heat in a kiln by the brightness of the fire brick and coils. This is much more difficult with fiber inserts. Also, much easier to replace. 3. Customer service.
Paragon has people in Texas who will walk you through repairs, trouble shooting and advice. They know their stuff. They also have tutorial videos and a presence on Facebook. 4. American made.
They last. I had one Paragon that was struck by lightning. A new switch and coli and I was back in business. If you would like more information on the right size kiln for your operation or would like to purchase a kiln, contact me at the studio. 919-240-5253
